The NHL is FIXED!

*WARNING* you pretty much have to be a hockey fan to understand this one....... lol
For all you hockey fans, I think I have discovered a conspiracy within the NHL that PROVES that they don't want a Canadian Team to win the Stanley Cup........
Those rumours have been passed around hockey fans for years now, and usually the blame is placed on the referees...... but this........ this is the league itself......
I've always been against the Standings format within the NHL..... win your division, and place in the top 3 in your confrence...... why?
Look at where the Canadian Teams are placed...... In the Western Confrence, all 3 Canadian Teams are in the Northwest Division...... and in the East...... all 3 Canadian Teams are in the Northeast Division...... Lets look at the West.......
If Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver were to get the most points in the Western Conference, ...... the BEST they could place going into the playoffs are 1st, 4th and 5th..... (2nd and 3rd will be given to american teams with less points in other divisions)
As the playoff schedule goes, 4th always plays 5th in the first round.... immediately knocking out a Canadian Team.
Statistically, if 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th win in the first round, 1st will play 4th in the second round. AGAIN, a canadian team facing off against another.... therefore leaving one team left going into round 3.......
Do you find this convienient? I sure do...... There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to have 3 Canadian teams finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Western or Eastern Confrence.......
I say ditch the "win your confrence, place in the top 3" rule, and leave it to points..... Why should a team with 86 points place ahead of a team with 92 points?!?!?!
Hockey fans...... please state your points....... GO FLAMES GO!!!! ;)

Gary Betman is nothing but a crook. He just wants the american teams to win so that their fans will actually watch. Many southern US teams would have no chance for survival without a good team (Tampa, Carolina, to name a few). He must want the US teams around because they have all the money. Too bad they dont have the fans that Canadian teams do. The fact that they wont let another Canadian team into the league is an absolute joke! There should be two more Canadian teams as far as I am concerned (one in Ontario and one in Winnipeg). Also get rid of that PPV hockey bull. Its a waste of money and I'm not convinced that anyone actually pays to watch those games (Go to the bar and watch for free)!

There is no way you can say that they do that to screw over the Canadian teams. Bettman does it so he can have hockey played in all corners of the States when the playoffs come around. Remember back a few years ago when Detroit beat Carolina in the Stanley cup finals. The final 4 teams in the East were Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, and Carolina. Unfortunately for us Canadians, Carolina some how made it through and lost in a hurry to a much better Redwings team. The divisions make sense, their not there to screw over one or all the Canadian teams. It's better with them all in one division because they play each other more! And thats what Canadians want to watch!

Oh man. This made me laugh out loud, a LOT. I think that we should probably move part of Canada south so that we qualify for more than the "northern" divisions. Deal?

I agree completely Jason. When it is all said and done it really should solely be based on points, regardless of where you are located. Unfortunately I'm too ill and tired to go into any more detail than that :-( But I do agree with you J
