Beyonce and her Mom Tina Knowles have teamed up yet again for a new line of clothing in their "House of Dereon" collection, and it's raising some eyebrows.

This ad has been running for "House of Dereon Girls", and it's got the public trying to figure out if this is high fashion for kids or just completely innappropiate. Parents and family dressing up little girls like adults has been happening for years with the explosion of child pagentry, but would you let your children go to school dressed like this?!! I mean, holy cow I think her heels are higher than any pair I own, and she's what? 4? 5?

I was reading the most amazing book "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert and it's a story about her spiritual quest across Europe and East Asia. And one of my most favorite parts is when she describes studying yoga with a guru in India and working with the young children of the temple. She says that the girls, even though 18 look much younger than American 18 year old girls and the 18 year old boys look older.

Why is it, that as North Americans (and I say North Americans because we are so heavily influenced by American culture) we want our young girls to look like women? We all know how fast time passes us by, why would we want to speed it up? A little girl in heels? Yeesh.
