My Kid's Smarter Than Yours

I know you love your kids and you probably think they're incredibly gifted. But if you go strictly by the numbers, chances are they're NOT.

Technically, only about 2% to 5% of kids are "gifted", meaning they display exceptional ability in a certain area even though they haven't been explicitly taught.

Of those kids, only about ONE in a HUNDRED is considered "highly gifted" and prodigies or geniuses (like kids who go to college at age 11) are literally about ONE in a MILLION.

I know what you're thinking, that you'll provide your kids with every available resource and send them to the best schools to "make" them gifted. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. "Giftedness" is something you're born with. Sorry.

So how can you tell if your kid is gifted? Well, first of all, pay attention to them with a critical eye. That should give you a good feel. Also, you can have them take an IQ test.

There are different kinds of IQ tests out there. One that's totally official is the IQ test provided by MENSA. You can sign up to take that here . ..
