A Musical Canvas

This concert explores the many colours of orchestral sound. Somer’s Picasso Suite evokes the times and places of the artist’s life while Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition is a musical impression of ten paintings linked by “musical promenades” that move the listener through the orchestral gallery. Encore Guest Artist, Ian Parker will explore the piano’s full expressive potential with Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G while the rarely heard Honegger Pacific 231, will add the elements of rhythm and headlong drive.
